Late August Lake Vermilion fishing produced good results for many of our guests this past week.  The muskie action was a little more consistent with several fish over 40″ caught as well as some under 40″ too.  The walleye bite was pretty good throughout the week once the cold front effects passed, with crawlers continuing to be the preferred bait.  Several cabins ate MANY fish meals and were able to reload their limits to take fish home with them.  Add some nice jumbo perch and a good number of smallies to the mix, and it was overall a pretty decent week.

Some of the fish we heard about include:

Walleyes:

  • 26″:  Jason Buan
  • 22″:  Michael Bigham, Jason Buan
  • 21″:  Jonathon McMichaels, Joel Castle X 2

Smallmouth Bass:

  • 18″  Josh Castle, Joel Castle X 2

Muskies:

  • 50.5″:  Eric Larsen, Steve Smith
  • 46.5″:  Ron Crabtree
  • 45″:  Niel Veirup
  • 42″:  Eric Larsen
  • 41″:  Kevin DeTrude, Jim Lanton
  • 40″:  Bob Larsen
  • 38″:  Eric Larsen

The Buan family shared some photos of some of the fish they caught on their family vacation last week, and we have posted them on our Facebook page.  https://www.facebook.com/Everett.Bay.Lodge.Lake.Vermilion.    The Lannings started the new week last evening taking advantage of the time before the rain came in to troll crankbaits, and caught some walleyes and bass.  We have a couple spots that open on Saturday if a trip north is tempting you over Labor Day.

Stop wishing….come fishing!!
