Lake Vermilion deer

October 2018

Lake Vermilion is still offering up walleyes for those that have kept their boats in the water as the deer opener approaches, but the end is in sight.  The usual fall tactics of trolling crank baits around 2 m.p.h. and lindy rigging deep spots with nice size minnows have continued to produce nice fish.  The water temp was barely above 40 degrees the last time out and the daytime highs next week should bring that skim of ice that stays around before long.

As for the deer opener, if the activity on our peninsula is any indication of the numbers out there, it should be a fantastic deer season.  These obviously thought we could use a little help with the fall flower bed clean up.  They were part of a crew of 12 that showed up in the courtyard between Cabin 2 and the lodge.

About every time you walk the property, you would be hard pressed to take a picture that doesn’t have at least one looking back at you.

The boats are winterized and stored, docks are pulled, cabins are ready for a long winter’s rest.  It was a great season with the chance to welcome back many returning guests and share beautiful Lake Vermilion with those enjoying it for the first time.  Now its time to work on the “2019 TO DO list.”  Can’t wait!
