Lake Vermilion June wrap up found the last week of June a pretty solid fishing week for many of our guests.  As noted at the start of the week, several returning guests found their way onto some great eater walleyes on Sunday, and found the same general area to produce nearly every time they hit it.  A couple times the year class they caught was just below eater size, but they caught some nice keepers later in the week too.  Crawlers were the ticket.

Lake Vermilion walleyes June

The Weinand family – June 2018

The McNemony / Eernissee crew figured things out as well.  They caught a nice mix of eaters and Tim caught several slot fish.   You can see the photo he shared on our Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/Everett.Bay.Lodge.Lake.Vermilion/photos/a.172235456162244.46059.171089822943474/1887662531286186/?type=3&theater

Nikki set out to catch her first walleye, and that first one turned into her catching her own limit.  Isn’t that the way it should always go?

Sounds like the bass were the most cooperative, with about anyone who targeted them doing well.  There were a couple 5 pounders caught and several in the 3 – 4 pound range.   Alec Olson caught a nice 40″ northern.  Muskies were seen, but we didn’t hear of any in the net.

Some of the bigger fish we heard about include:

Northern: 40″ Alec Olson, 36″ Robert Davis.

Walleye:  27″ Tim McNemony, 26″ Jim Roesch, 25″ Jim Roesch, 25″ Bob Henke, 24.5″ Tim McNemony, 24″ Paul Eager, 23″ Bob Henke, 23″ Mike Kapala, 23″ Tim McNemony, 22″ Bob Henke

Smallmouth:  20″ Dave Eernissee, 20″ Kenney Simpson, 19″ Kenney Simpson

Largemouth:  18″ Chuck Nystrom

What’s ahead?  Well this week is a continuation of less than ideal conditions, with another day of rain today – that maybe – maybe not type.  We certainly haven’t had to water the flowers lately.  While we are full through Saturday, next week when the holiday lake activity slows down is the perfect time to sneak up north.  Give us a call if you have a few days to spare.

Cancellation August 11th week.  After months of turning away those looking for that last end of the summer getaway, a cancellation has opened up a 2 bedroom cabin and a boat.   If August 11th or some part of that week works for you, give us a shout or shoot us an email.

Plenty happening in Tower these next couple days.  Have a safe 4th!

Stop wishing …..Come fishing!
