Lake Vermilion 52.5" muskie

Mitch Zorn with his PR 52.5″ Lake Vermilion muskie.

This past week of fishing on Lake Vermilion was a little more inconsistent, as guests reported catching numbers but not as many bigger fish as have been caught most weeks so far this season.  Still 2 more pictures will be added to our EBL Wall of Fame, Mitchell Zorn with the 52.5″ muskie shown above and Kathy Ronken with a 20.5″ small mouth bass.

The wind played a role in determining where people fished early in the week, but most guests reported catching and several limits were caught as the week moved along.  Walleyes were primarily caught on leeches and crawlers as the fish have moved out to the main lake structure, and both large and small mouth bass have continued to provide plenty of action.

As to be expected, the mayflies have arrived, hatching in various areas at different times.  They hatched in Everett Bay Friday.   With nearly 3 inches of rain on Saturday, and another patch of rain Sunday afternoon/evening, it has been a slow start to the new week, but the forecast looks pretty good from here on out.

Some of the fish our guests told us about include:

Walleyes:  24″  Gary Ronken  –   23.5″ Ginny Wisniewski

Small mouth Bass:  20.5″ Kathy Ronken

Muskie:  52.5″  Mitch Zorn

If you are looking for a get-a-way right after the 4th, give us a shout as we have a few spots for July 5th arrival.

Stop wishing….Come fishing!
