June fishing on Lake Vermilion stays strong, with many guests reporting one of their strongest weeks up here.  The bite was pretty consistent, and there was great variety in terms of walleyes big and small, bass both large and small mouth, nice panfish, jumbo perch, plenty of northerns and some muskies including a Tiger musky.   Many fish were caught and released.

While the minnows have been put away for the most part, there continues to be a nice leech bite although the start of the mayfly hatch has pushed the crawler bite into play.  Still no earnest hatch here in Everett Bay, but there have been a few here and there.  Guests who have fished among them have taken advantage of the suspended fish that are enjoying the mayflies.  Expected the string of warm sunny days to trigger the big hatch, but another couple of cooler days has slowed it down again.

If you missed our last blog post, check it out to see the excitement the Paulsen family had.  https://everettbaylodge.com/lake-vermilion-muskie-fishing-june-2018/.   You will be able to see some more of their pictures in our Fishing Photo Gallery.  And imagine our surprise when we went in to clean the Graczyk cabin and found they had redecorated their cabin with an enlarged framed photo of one of their catches –

The Eickhoff family had a good week catching some perfect eaters along with several slot fish they had fun catching.  Again, more of their photos are in the Fishing Photo Gallery, along with a 1 lb 2 oz. bluegill Tim Magee caught & released.

So far this week has taken off where last week left off.  The McNemony crew had a nice day out on the water with a walleye guide, and the Weinand’s were 2 short of 4 limits by lunchtime on Sunday, but added a couple nice bluegills to their basket of fish.

While this is another full week for us, we have 2 partial stays beginning Saturday leading into the 4th of July, and then a couple options again starting on Saturday, July 7th.

Stop wishing…Come fishing!
