Ice Out is Real Close

Big Bay looked open as far as I could see. Wind is blowing out of the east today at 10-15 mph. Shouldn’t be long at all for the official ice out date. We had rain this morning a quarter of and inch. Dave

Opener 2011

2011-05-15 Opener 2011 was a good weekend of better than expected weather on Saturday and plenty of limits of walleyes.  Even with high winds, a few Lake Vermilion first timers from Lino Lakes found their way around and came home with a limit for each of the guys in the boat.  Several of our opener “returners” also limited out, eating fish on Saturday evening and catching some to take home on Sunday.  Eight year old Joe Allison made it look… Read More »

Waiting for the Ice to Melt

  2011-04-01 We’ve had some snow and rain today. Highs are expected to be in the low 40’s. Plenty of sun the last 10 days or so, but temps have remained fairly cold in the 20’s for highs. So ice on the lake hasn’t made much progress. The Pike Bay dam has started to flow in earnest just over the last day or so. Over the next three weeks Pike Bay will likely completely open.
