Lake Vermilion spring fishing 2015

Even though Friday’s weather wasn’t the kindest, it didn’t take the Raleighs long to get the walleye action going when they visited for a day and a half of Lake Vermilion walleye fishing.  With limits of eaters, several bigger ones and a good number of fish in the 12 to 14 inch range they were kept busy.  The same walleye action continued when Virgil and his crew arrived Saturday.  They too found the walleyes hungry and opted to bump Burgers… Read More »

Lake Vermilion Ice out 2015 as of April 18th

Lake Vermilion Ice out 2015 goes in the books as April 18th.  Good thing the winds were strong those last couple days as it finished the ice off before a cold snap came our direction. Fortunately the 10 day forecast gets much better after Thursday, and it looks like smooth sailing from there on out.  Delighted to be taking calls from people who are booking cabins vs. just inquiring as to when we think the ice will be off like… Read More »

Lake Vermilion Ice out 2015

Lake Vermilion ice out 2015 starts with the steady rush of water at the Pike Bay dam. In just a matter of a few days, a small trickle has evolved into this powerful full force rush, with the ice on the high side of the dam looking like it may be short lived. Progress being made as the water pushes its way under HWY 77 and starts to take its toll on the ice on the east side of the… Read More »

Lake Vermilion September fishing

The past few weeks have flown by with the first week of the month finding the Minnesota B.A.S.S. Nation Tournament of Champions on the lake.  With 31 clubs sending 200 anglers the boat launch saw plenty of action as pre-fishing was going on.  The early part of the week was warmer and reports were favorable for good numbers and good size bass.  There were also reports of several muskies and walleyes caught.  A cold front came through though and seemed… Read More »

Lake Vermilion fishing – August 24, 2104

As the last week of August kicks off we wrap up a week that was short on great weather – kind of a gloomy week, finding us often wishing it would just let loose and rain, rather than threaten to rain for hours on end.  When the sun did poke through things warmed up quickly. Last Saturday night it looked like it might be a great week for muskies as 16 year old Justin Fuller boated his 46″ personal record… Read More »
