Walleyes are Steady

2005-08-31

Walleyes are steady on the flats long lining crankbaits. Sometimes 12-14 ft. works, other times 19-20 ft. Some early fall spots worked this past week using lindy rigs and crawlers. Suzie and Dave Lennes each caught nice walleyes. Suzie had a 23" and Dave had a 25". The Lennes's and the Clarks caught many walleye with a lindy rig and crawler.

Terry Sjoberg guided guys from cabin 4 this week and they've had luck on smallmouth, northern and walleye. Their best were some 17 and 18" smallmouth and a couple of walleyes were 21". They also lost a nice muskie. Also this past week Patti Clark  caught and released an 18" smallmouth.

Muskie action has been steady, but not incredibly hot. Bob Kuhl and Rick Pike each caught two fish all over 40 inches. Mike Stoner boated two more fish before he left a 45 and a 43 1/2 for a total of three. Dan Wojtusik and Jason Long are here this week (Muskie Classic winners of a year ago). We'll see how they do.

May your pole always be bent! Dave
