October in Early August

2004-08-13

We set record low temperatures of 50 degrees on Tuesday of this week and it rained all day. Weather wise it's been a tough week. The pool finally got uncovered on Thursday. The week before last held some action as a few people caught some muskie and the weather was just the best. Walleyes have remained a bit weird while the smallies and largemouth have been consistently caught on points and rock piles.

John Sundell caught three muskie a 47 1/2, and two 43 1/2's. Rick Rosar managed to boat a 44 1/4 and a 40. Jeff Chastek boated a 44 1/4. Bill Filer managed to boat a 40" and a 36" muskie. I managed to boat a 38" northern and a 24" walleye early in the week. Most of the walleye have been caught right before dark in shallow water.

Bluegill have been active on bright sunny days. We caught some nice ones late last week on crawleres with bobbers.

Joe McCartin and Spence Petros came in late Wednesday. It was real special on Thursday to fish with these two guys even though we only raised one muskie. Joe and Spence boated three on Friday all around 40 inches.

May your pole always be bent! Dave
