| The opening weekend
started slow but the fish house had its share of visitors
today. It took awhile, with the extremely cold temperatures
on Saturday morning of 21 degrees, for people to find the
fish deep in 30 to 35 feet. Water temps were in the low 40's
Saturday morning.
People who stayed in shallow water
struggled. Cliff Wagenbach, the guide, took Mike and Dean
Flummerfelt and Al Sorenson on Saturday and managed to boat
over 100 walleye in deep water. They kept 23. Sunday
everyone seemed to catch walleyes in deep water. Other than
a shower this morning, the weather has been great both days.
A few northern and crappie have been caught but most have
been going after the walleyes.
By late afternoon today the water temp
in our bay was 53 degrees and the kids were catching perch
off the docks. If we could have some stable weather and
sunshine the fish will start to move shallow. It was a great
weekend here. Diane and I look forward to another great year
at the Lodge. Dave
